Qingdao, beautiful seaside city

Qingdao, located in the southeast part of Shandong Province, is a beautiful seaside city with clear air and enchanting sea view. This city, bordered by the Yellow Sea on two sides, has the largest bathing beach in Asia and produces the mellow Tsingtao Beer.

      Scenic Spot

      Zhan Bridge

      The first must-see attraction is Zhan Bridge (Zhanqiao). Zhan Bridge is one of the important symbols of the city. The local railway station is a five-minute walk away. Entrance to the bridge is free, but to enter Huilan Pavilion at bridge end costs CNY 2. Opposite Zhan Bridge on the other side of the street is Zhanqiao Hotel in a prime location. To the north is the bustling commercial street, Zhongshan Road. Take Bus No. 26 or 317 to see some of the scenic spots for only CNY 1.

      Qingdao Number One Bathing Beach

      Qingdao Number One Bathing Beach, also Huiquan Bathing Place, is in Huiquan Bay, famous for soft sands, limpid seawater and mild waves. The bathing place is free of charge and open all day. Next to it you will find the 2nd Bathing Beach and not far away from this the 3rd Bathing Beach (near Haitian Hotel). You can reach the sites by buses No.6, 15, 26, 214, 311, 312, 316, 202 and many others. There is another sandy beach in the east (Shilaoren).

      Mt. Laoshan

      Famous as the cradle of Chinese Taoism, Mt. Laoshan is regarded as the No. 1 Mountain on the sea. Spending one or two days climbing Mt. Laoshan will enrich your trip. The best season to climb is from May to October. During this period, abundant rainfall and charming sights enrich the experience. Wild vegetables from Mt. Laoshan are expensive, but you can ask for a taste from a farmer. Take the bus at Huaneng Square. 104 & 304 go to Laoshan Bus Station (Entrance). These buses pass also  the magnificent Shilaoren Gardens, a place worth to be visited.

      Xinhao (Signal) Hill Park

      Xinhao (Signal) Hill Park: No. 18, Longshan Road. You can reach the park by buses No. 228, 217, 220 and 214. From Circling Hall, you can catch the panoramic view of the city.

      Qingdao Nightlife
      To young people, one thing that should not be missed is the bar life. The Qingdao entertainment district is located in the downtown area of the east part and the Stone Old Man (Shi Lao Ren) Tourism Holiday area. Although the nightlife here is becoming more active every year, it is more subdued than in other major cities.

      Freeman Coffee House, No. 38, Hubei Road, Shinan District

      A coffee house in the old city area, it is decorated with antiques, such as an American wireless radio from the 1940s, Irish copper coffee pots, a shabby straw-hat-shaped lampshade, and the graffiti left by customers. All these decorations remind one of a street corner in a European city.

      Music Kitchen, No. 5, Hong Kong Middle Road

      The Music Kitchen Bar is a three-story building. Here you can watch the stars from the roof. Pizza is the most popular food at the Music Kitchen. They also feature various salads such as Thai eggplant salad and French sweet pepper salad. There's nothing better than pizza with salad!

      Shangri-La Hotel

      Shangri-La Hotel is situated in Qingdao's central commercial district, an ideal and convenient location for business, shopping or to just explore and enjoy the city's European cultural heritage and ocean shoreline scenery. The hotel is 30 kilometres from Qingdao Liuting International Airport, an only 1 minute' walk to May Fourth Square, 0.6 miles from the Olympic Sailing Center, 2.9 kilometres away from Ba Da Guan, and close to the MIXC, one of the largest shopping malls in China. It will take 12 minutes' by subway Line 3 to Qingdao Railway Station.
